MONTHLY BUSINESS NEWSMAGAZINE / Sept 2011

monthly business news magazineROYAL SOLWEZI HOTEL
commits K24bn to expansion programme

Managing director, Litana Shindaile said in an interview in Solwezi recently the hotel management realised that visitors to North-Western Province and, to Solwezi in particular, were facing difficulties in accessing quality accommodation, hence the desire to broaden the infrastructure.
He said the first phase of the expansion programme would be concluded next month and ready for occupation at the end of June 2011.

Shindaile said The Royal Solwezi had deliberately structured the extension programme to comprise self-catering facilities with eight rooms in each section.
He explained that the construction of each bloc would gobble K6 billion and that progress was going steadily, saying the completion of all sections would be on schedule.
Shindaile said the hotel management was resolved to offer good quality accommodation and service to clients and were determined to keep the status of the hotel being the preferred rendezvous in North-Western Province.

He said after the completion of the first building, construction would proceed to the second phase which would be through in August this year and the third would be ready for residents in December while the final stage would end in February next year.
Shindaile assured clients that the hotel management had gone on an on-going extension project saying after the four-phased extension, they would take expansion to another level, within the hotel precincts whose budget would be unveiled at the end of this year.

The Royal Solwezi Hotel currently has five presidential suites, two executive doubles, 15 ordinary doubles and 24 single rooms. The 10 villas on the hotel estate are on a long lease.
The hotel which was officially opened by the then Republican Vice-President Rupiah Banda in August 2007 is 15 minutes drive from Solwezi Airport on the Old Chingola Road, 10 kilometres from Kansanshi Mine and 60 kilometres away from Lumwana Mine.

There are two conference rooms with one seating up to 20 people while the bigger one can seat up to 250 delegates. Among other facilities include wireless internet access, and a modern business centre.-Story courtesy of the Times of Zambia.
